April Fool 2008

From my past:

April Fool is passed.
You’re a bigger fool, at last.
Up a ladder, down a tree,
you’re a bigger fool than me.

Thanks to Wikipedia for "April Fool’s Day".

Of Shuffles and Re-Organizations

‘Tis that time of the year in Redmond .. when folk look at what they did last year and what they’d like to do next, in the coming year (our fiscal ends on 6/30/08).

‘Tis also a time of box ticking .. as managers and directs sort through their commitments to ensure they’ve exceeded the bar.

We have the added delight in our organization of a re-organization. More than one, actually. Nothing’s been announced, but lots and lots and lots of chatter, speculation, fear and loathing (even whilst in Las Vegas).

Change is the only certainty, I hear.

"Thriller" in the Philippine Prison System

Thanks to Connor for pointing me to a YouTube video about how inmates in a Philippine prison get their daily exercise, set to American music and dance:

The prison does a few other numbers, including "Souljaboy" and "The Hustle".

Three Million Web Pages with Malicious "Drive-By" Downloads

These suck.

As described by Windows ITPro Magazine, a "Drive By" download is:

This means you can get infected by simply visiting the page, or via a pop-up redirect from a malicious page. A team

The key points: "vulnerabilities in browsers, browser components and OSs". Legitimate software companies and application developers will issue security patches for detected vulnerabilities to ensure their code is secure.

Patch your systems, people. There is no excuse except to maintain a safe computing environment.

Here’s the sequel, co-starring Linux

BTW: it’s not a hostile takeover ..

.. it a mutually beneficial merger of two first-class organizations resulting in a synergistic harmonized experience for our mutual customers.

I didn’t write it .. but, I couldn’t resist.

Here’s someone who didn’t want to move ..

.. as seen on a recent walk:

This is someone who simply didn’t want to move .. and asserted themselves to the point that they built their new building around the property.

My CES 2008 Mid-Life Crisis

CES2008MidLifeCrisis20080202Spotted this beauty whilst touring the auto floor at CES a few weeks back.

Note the smooth lines ..

.. the European styling ..

.. fast, even while standing still ..

No, silly. The car .. not the booth bait.

She raced into the frame and posed while I was setting up the picture.
