Unlike terrestrial radio (you know: that content played on that little box that isn't a PC), Internet radio crosses any and all conventional licensing boundaries and physical borders. Also, terrestrial radio also doesn't have near the quality of digital radio (under normal recording circumstances), whereas Internet streams are at risk to be 'ripped' by a variety of software tools.
