The editors of USA Today have redesigned the site to include social networking, story recommendations and personalized experience (requires login). From their Editor's Notes:
“The real change is in the approach, not the appearance. While we’ve refined the design, we’ve also expanded the journalistic mission: Our ambition is to help readers quickly and easily make sense of the world around them by giving them a wider view of the news of the day and connecting them with other readers who can contribute to their understanding of events.”
My goal with USA Today: easy discovery of the online version of an article I read in the print edition so I can post about it. I'll let you know if the redesign helps me there.
