Note that 18 years ago (when the patent was filed), the Internet (and, thus the term 'online') didn't exist, and yet IBM is citing it patented online catalog sales and advertising.
Ouch.

Wrong. Internet does not equal online. A few of us remember 300 baud modems and command line compuserve. Thats what was happening at this time of the patent. They had an idea. A good one.
