I've been busy with Live Writer today, testing out various things with the way I work. Get the bits here.
Some notes:
- Live Writer still doesn't support .Text (the earlier version of Community Server), which I'm still using. I got it working and described how in: "My first Windows Live Writer Post".
- I did an upgrade over my existing installation as I was keen to preserve settings. The upgrade performed flawlessly and I was blogging within minutes. Nice work, MSI dudes and dudettes!
- The new version posts to my blog server really quickly! Less than a second (the older version took it's sweet time).
- You can now add Title tags to links (gives you the nice yellow pop-up on mouseover events over links) without opening HTML code.
- Opening offline drafts and posting them worked fine.
- Adding categories when creating a blog post works in this version.
Some other notes:
- I cannot update an article using Live Writer; might just be me. Can anyone who is not using .Text do updates to existing posts?
If you use the first beta, you'll want to get the new version.
