If you like the service, you can buy Vonage on the IPO....
I am a systems integrator. I work with data, phone, TV and security systems everyday. I set up systems for colleges and hotels. I tried Vonage for our new office phone system. I could not get it to ring through consistently. Calls were not completed, some were dropped. For one week I had no phones at all. Customers would write e-mail or call my cell phone to ask if we were still in business. They would get messages saying that my number was disconnected or that it was not valid. I spent over 11 hours on-line or on hold trying to get help, most of it on hold. When I called to cancel service I told them that I needed to keep the number and it would take a few days for the phone company to connect me again. They cut me off right then. I had no phone service. Qwest could not reconnect me with that number unless it was active. I had to spend 3 hours trying to get Vonage to activate the number again. Then they gave me a temporary number for 3 days, which no one knew to call, before I got my old number and same crappy service back. When I was finally connected to a land line again they gave me a $12.50 credit for my troubles. Vonage should be put out of business. They ruined mine for almost a month. They have a cruddy product, lousy service and tech support and terrible business practices. If you have to choose between two cans and a string and Vonage, take the cans and string. You'll be happier with the service.
Erik - You just a knuckle head for trying that with a business!! Customers service stinks no matter who the phone company is, no care about you or anyone else. At least with vonage they wont tell you they will be there between 8am and 5pm... Then call at 6pm to apoligize to you for losing a days wages and they will be there first thing in the morning! It is what is it.. A good, low cose replacement for your home phone, most of us have a home phone as a secondary phone anyways. I have had bads days with my vonage, but I had them with the telephone companies as well. Until we all have mental telpathy, vonage has my vote!
Erik, as a systems integrator who works on phone, data and security everday, you should have tested Vonage prior to disconnecting your land service. You have a lot to learn about systems integration, have you ever heard the term "beta test"? I agree, this is NOT a business solution, but a very good (and less expensive) home alternate to using land lines. And I have used AT&T, Sprint, SBC and MCI, you name it...I would have to go back 8 - 10 years before I could remember when I received what I consider "good customer service" from any large service provider. In fact it took AT&T 3 PLUS months to release my phone existing number to Vonage(now that's crappy customer service). And guess what...Vonage gave me my temporary VOIP number for about 4 months FREE. Actually you do have something to thank Vonage for... just think ..you could have done this to one of your customers without beta testing it first?

We had Vonage for all of this past year. Up until the last 2 months it was just fine. Then it became unbearable. Our Comcast Cable was downloading at 6.0 (Avg.) and uploading at 375kbps (Avg.), more than adequate. So after three service calls to India and all the "troubleshooting" in the world from increasing and deacreasing the sound clarity on my end to the changing the phone line from line one to line two and changing the configuration on their end , still bad service. Of course when you go to cancel, then they route you to good old USA to save the account. Nope not with this guy. So we switched to Comcast Digital Voice to go with the high Speed Internet and Cable already in place and magically the phone service is great again. I will pay $10.00 more monthly gladly for something that works over $24.99 for a service we were so frustrated with we would not pick up the phone.
