I wrote earlier today about the “Mix 06 Gadget Contest”, where you can write a gadget and if you win, get expenses for your trip to Mix 06.
So, I got to thinking. What kind of applications might make interesting web-powered gadgets? I found some links to web-based services:
- Remember The Milk: Reminder service that sends SMS or email messages so you don't forget things.
- Writely: Word processor. Supports multiple document formats. Allows collaboration through the use of other users email addresses. Could potentially enrichen the user experience with a client-side presence.
- HipCal: Online calendar and to-do list. Supports group calendars. At the moment, I'm using HotMail calendar for my family calendar; this looks like it might be better suited for the purpose.
There are some interesting opportunities herein (and across the world wide web, of course), for user-centric gadget development.
