    Google: Sellout.com?

Andy Kessler discusses the issues around Google censoring search results in China at the behest of the government:

a billion soon-to-be-online Chinese will forever associate Google with lame and censored search results

Andy draws a number of parallels to Billy Joel and Kevin Costner in this article.

On another topic, USA Today reports “Mazda pulls Web-search switcheroo with Pontiac”.  The plan: tell consumers to “Google Pontiac” at the end of a television ad.  However,

Mazda bought the words "Pontiac" and "Pontiac Solstice" as search-engine terms in its advertising efforts around the launch of the redesigned Mazda MX-5 two-seater sports car.

I'm having a hard time getting my head around this; are search results to be trusted?
